Starting the Battle
The battle post can be started and posted by either the challenger or by the person who accepted the challenge (Who goes first can be declared in the Call Out). The post subject line should be named in the following. "Challenger vs. Accepting Artist". The challenger should always be first in the subject line.
You DO NOT have to participate in only one battle at a time.
Code of Conduct
Order of the battle should be the following, A-B-B-A. Meaning Artist1 posts a 16, Artist2 posts a 32, then Artist1 posts the finishing 16. The opponent will have 48 hours to respond with two verses. The challenger will then have 48 hours to respond again with one verse. Failure to respond within 48 hours for either side results in a victory for the active battler.
Limitations
The maximum limit for a verse is 16 bars. You could attempt to fit a lot of words in one bar, but this may eventually cause penalization in the Structure factor (see below).
Judging Key
1. Multis (rhyming multiple syllables, such as ‘pop that gat’ and ‘lock that strap’)
2. Punchlines (jokes and creative lines, wordplay)
3. Vocabulary (use of more advanced words and non-cliched phrases)
4. Personals (topics or phrases that personally attack the opponent)
5. Structure (a consistent style of writing or flow, so that the lyrics are not chaotic)
If you post a vote, each of these five parts must be shown and rated from a scale of 1-5, 5 being the best. You must also post the name of the battler you are voting for to win. Although you may post during a battle, absolutely do not vote before the battle rounds are complete.
User accounts must be 7 days old and have a minimum of 5 posts before the users vote qualifies.
A battle is complete 3 days after the final verse has been posted. A moderator will point that out in the battle thread.
Completed battles will be totaled by the battle moderator and added to the scoreboard.
