Nas Owes 339,000 in Federal Taxes
Uncle Sam is hollering at Nas and he wants his money.
According to official documents obtained by TMZ, Nas owes $339,000 more in federal income tax money he allegedly kept from the Internal Revenue Service in 2010. The U.S. government has put out a lien on his property due to the failure to make the payment.
TMZ goes on to report that the $339,000 comes in addition to the $6 million-plus that he owes in back taxes from previous years.
The Queensbridge rhymeslinger extraordinaire has also been in the news lately for a far different reason. As XXL previously reported, New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez demanded the release of two concert promoters who were seized in Angola when news spread that Nas and R&B singer Jemiah Jah weren’t going to perform.
Patrick Allocco and son Patrick of Morristown, New Jersey have been held captive for 45 days. Nas and Jemiah received $315,000 in advance money to perform in Luanda for a New Year’s Eve concert.
In an interview with the New York Post, Alloco says his beef is with Nas. “He put us in real harm, in real possible danger,” he claims. Senator Bob Menendez told Angolian President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, “I am personally willing to raise this issue directly with President Obama, if necessary.”—Jakinder Singh
